Black Stars: Check out Otto Addo’s probable XI to face the Central African Republic in Luanda in the 2023 AFCON qualifier

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo is expected to keep faith in the majority of his players who started in the 3-0 victory over Madagascar on Wednesday evening in Cape Coast.

The four-time AFCON winners will take on the Wild Beast of the Central African Republic in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers on Sunday afternoon.

Substitute Osman Bukari’s pace and third goal thrilled the lanky Borussia Dortmund Head of Talent Development and could offer him a chance to start in the Southern African nation.

Goalkeeper Richard Ofori has pulled out of the squad due to injury, according to the Ghana FA. That leaves Swindon Town shot-stopper Jojo Wollacott as the obvious choice to start in between the sticks.

Yaw Yeboah and Christopher Antwi are among the players who have been dropped from the initial 33-man squad.

Despite Hearts of Oak defender Dennis Korsah and Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim making the trip, it is unlikely they will make the grades for a starting XI.

Bordeaux’s Gideon Mensah, Daniel Amartey, and Denis Odoi constant features in the Black Stars’ defence now and are tipped to start. Depending on the tactical approach of the game, there would be a shift from the 3-back system deployed against Madagascar. In a scenario like that Jonathan Mensah will be introduced to partner Amartey in central defence.

Kudus Mohammed, Andre Ayew, Jordan Ayew, and Felix Afena-Gyan are all expected to start.

Below is Ghana Sports Online’s predicted starting XI.

Jojo Wollacott – Gideon Mensah, Daniel Amartey, Denis Odoi, Jonathan Mensah – Baba Iddrisu, Kudus Mohammed, Fatawu Issahaku, Andre Ayew – Jordan Ayew, Felix Afena-Gyan.
