Ghana’s Black Stars recorded an impressive 2-0 win over Euro 2020 semi-finalist Switzerland in the final warm-up game before the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The Stars dominated in a game that saw Rossocrociati parade Premier League stars Granit Xhaka, Manuel Akanji, Denis Zakaria, and Bundesliga super goalkeeper Jan Sommer.

Otto Addo left Thomas Partey on the bench while starting Tariq Lamptey, Salisu, and Inaki Williams.

Salisu headed Ghana in front from a corner kick before Antoine Semenyo pounced on a loose ball inside the box to register the second goal for the Black Stars in a game that was played under a hot climate in Abu Dhabi.

Hearts of Oak attacker Daniel Afriyie Barnieh had what appeared to be a legitimate penalty call ignored by the center referee however the home-based forward capped a delightful showing in the 62 minutes he lasted on the field of play.

Gent central midfielder Elisha Owusu formed a commendable partnership with Lens’ Samed Salis Abdul with the ex-Lyon academy player showing glimpses of quality with Thomas Partey watching on from the bench.

The Black Stars created their moments in either half of the game however most of the inspiring moments came in the second half with the pace of Kamaldeen Sulemana and the technicality of Club Brugge’s Kamal Sowah coming to the fore.

The result has inspired confidence in Ghanaian fans ahead of the big kick off the World Cup in Qatar in 3 days time.
