Udinese delay Serie A debut for Irish-born Ghanaian teenager James Abankwah

Irish-born Ghanaian teen defender James Abankwah would have to wait a little longer to make his Italian Serie A debut.

The 18-year-old central defender warmed the substitute bench for the Little Zebras when they beat AS Monza 2-1 at the Brianteo.

Destiny Udogie grabbed the winner to give his Udinese Calcio side their first win of the season, and leave an aspiring Monza without a single point from their opening three games.

It was yet another victory on the road against a promoted team for the Zebrette, who have now won six of their last seven away league matches against promoted teams.

Abankwah joined the Little Zebras in January 2022 from Ireland Premier Division club St Patrick’s Athletic.
